LUKA SKOVRLJ Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family Luka Skovrlj passed away at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 65. Left to mourn him, and cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 44 years, Viktoria; his beloved sons, Ivan (Eva) and Slavko (Marina) and his adoring grandchildren Rozeanna, Danny, Victoria and Christopher. Luka was predeceased by his father Ivan Skovrlj and his mother Ana Skovrlj Ambrenac. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his sister Margaretta OConnell (Shawn) his brothers, Stjepan Skovrlj and Josip Ambrenac (Tammy) as well as his aunt Jelka Perica (Ivan) of Zagreb, Croatia. Luka will be fondly remembered and missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends both here and in his native Croatia. Luka was born in Donje Novo Selo, Croatia. He immigrated to Canada in 1975, settled in Winnipeg and together with his wife proceeded to raise his family. To Luka his family was the centre of his universe. His happiest times were those spent with his grandchildren, who are left with many beautiful memories of their times spent together. They will miss him beyond measure. After Glow Id like the memory of me to be a happy one. Id like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done. Id like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways of happy times and laughing times and bright sunny days. Id like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done. Special thanks to the Concordia Hospital third floor staff. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, September 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 5 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Tavelich Catholic Croation Church with Father Franjo Visaticki officiating.
